Buhari reacts to APC candidate Oyebanji’s victory in the gubernatorial race in Ekiti.

President Muhammadu Buhari has congratulated Biodun Oyebanji, the All Progressives Congress (APC) governor candidate, for his victory in Saturday’s gubernatorial election in Ekiti State.

Remember that the INEC Returning Officer for the Ekiti State Governorship election, Prof. Oyebode Adebowale, proclaimed Oyebanji the winner early Sunday morning.

Oyebanji won the election with 187,057 votes.

Oyebanji, according to Adebowale, had satisfied the law and was thus proclaimed the winner.

Buhari’s spokesman, Femi Adesina, released a congratulations message on Sunday in Abuja, describing Oyebanji’s efforts to the development of the state and the party prior to his nomination as the standard-bearer as “well merited.”

Buhari also congratulated APC Chairman Senator Abdullahi Adamu and the National Working Committee on the victory, which was the first for the party’s newly elected officials.

“You and your team are off to a good start.” The APC is becoming more powerful and cohesive.

“The faith of Nigerians in our great party’s ability to offer quality administration to all is reflected in our triumph in Ekiti,” the president stated.

Buhari urged all APC members to take the victory as a good omen for the 2023 general elections, and to fight tirelessly to assure the party’s triumph, as he did in Osun State earlier this month.

He also congratulated the people of Ekiti on the peaceful transition.

In the interest of the people, he advised Oyebanji to be magnanimous in victory.
