Erik ten Hag’s refusal to join Manchester United has stunned the transfer window.

Jurrien Timber of Ajax has upset Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag by turning down a move to Old Trafford this summer, according to The Mirror.

Ten Hag was Timber’s teammate at Ajax, and it was the Dutchman who gave him his Eredivisie debut and helped him become a Netherlands international.

And Ten Hag was so confident in his ability to bring Timber to Old Trafford that he instructed the club to concentrate on signing Frenkie de Jong and Christian Eriksen before discussing a contract for Timber.

Ten Hag, though, has been left’stunned’ by Timber’s refusal to transfer to Old Trafford, according to the Mirror, and is now expected to stay at Ajax.

The Dutchman is concerned that a move to the Theatre of Dreams, where he is unlikely to be an automatic first choice, could harm his World Cup ambitions.
