Jail Break: Buhari and the heads of the security services met behind closed doors at Aso Rock
President Muhammadu Buhari is currently having an emergency meeting at the Presidential Villa in Abuja with service chiefs, the heads of various security services, and certain ministers in response to the invasion of the medium-custodial facility in Kuje, Abuja.
The conference, which is scheduled to evaluate current security system difficulties, comes in the wake of recent terrorist attacks, including those on the President’s advance team to Daura on Tuesday night and the Medium Security Custodial Centre, Kuje, in Abuja.
Recall that nearly 900 inmates, including Boko Haram convicts, managed to escape the Kuje Correctional Center with the aid of accomplices thought to be members of the Islamic State in West African Province (ISWAP).
Vice President Yemi Osinbajo, Secretary to the Government of the Federation Boss Mustapha, President’s Chief of Staff Professor Ibrahim Gambari, and National Security Advisor (NSA) Major General Babagana Monguno are present at the meeting (retd).
The Ministers of the Interior, Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola, the Minister of Police Affairs, Maigari Dingyadi, the Minister of Defense, Maj. Gen. Bashir Magashi (ret. ), and the Attorney-General and Minister of Justice, Abubakar Malami, are also in attendance.
General Lucky Irabor, Lieutenant General Farouk Yahaya, and Air Marshal Isiaka Oladayo Amao are the chiefs of staff for the army, navy, and air force, respectively.
Alkali Baba Usman, the director general of the Department of State Service (DSS), Yusuf Bichi, and Ahmed Rufai Abubakar, the director general of the National Intelligence Agency (NIA), are all present during the meeting.
Vice Admiral Awwal Gambo, the Chief of Naval Staff, is present for the conference.
Buhari attended a conference on Thursday and just returned from Senegal.
