Presidency : Gov. Makinde “opens up” about going to Peter Obi’s Ibadan rally

Gov. Makinde “opens up” about going to Peter Obi’s Ibadan rally

Oyo State’s governor, Seyi Makinde, denied claims that he attended a Labour Party (LP) presidential rally in the state’s capital, Ibadan.

Makinde characterized the report as untrue and deceptive.

Makinde claimed he was not in the State at the time of the incident while speaking through his chief press secretary, Taiwo Adisa.

Adisa said that the report was intended to confuse the public.

He said that the governor was absent from the State throughout the protest since he was on leave.

Adisa added that any attempt to damage the governor’s name would not be tolerated and that Makinde would not accept untruth from Obi’s supporters, known as Obidient.

The statement said: “Governor Makinde was reportedly seen with the Obidients at a rally in Ibadan on Saturday, September 3, 2022, according to an internet newspaper.

“For the avoidance of doubt, Makinde was not in the vicinity of Ibadan at the time of the aforementioned demonstration.

How is it feasible for the governor, who was spending the rest of his vacation days outside of the nation, to be seen with the ‘Obidients’ in Ibadan?

“We will not permit anyone the luxury of dragging the character of the Governor of Oyo State on the basis of false claims, even though we will not object to the Obidients’ wish to promote their candidate.”
