• PSG: Messi will take up additional responsibilities under new coach

With the expected appointment of a new manager, Paris Saint-Germain are reportedly planning to play forward Lionel Messi in a different position next season.

Following the end of his contract, Messi surprised the football world by leaving his boyhood club Barcelona for PSG last summer.

The Argentine captain had a rough first season at PSG, needing time to adjust to the new surroundings.

Last season, Messi was mostly employed on the right side of PSG’s attack under manager Mauricio Pochettino, appearing 34 times, scoring 11 goals and assisting 15 times.

According to FootMercato (via PSGTalk), the seven-time Ballon d’Or winner could be utilized as a number 10 next season, with PSG advisor Luis Campos aiming to hire OGC Nice manager Christophe Galtier as manager.

Galtier was linked with the Parc des Princes job, which would see him succeed Pochettino.

With Galtier in control at PSG, Campos is said to want to employ a 3-5-2 structure, which would see Messi transfer to the number 10 position.
