Ronaldo is leaving Manchester United to finish his career with a Champions League team.

According to Marca, Manchester United forward Cristiano Ronaldo is getting closer to joining Sporting CP, the team where he spent his formative years.

Real Madrid, another of Ronaldo’s former teams, would have been his first choice, but Los Blancos are not keen on bringing him back.

The 37-year-old has determined that joining the Portuguese team again is his best course of action.

Although Sporting may not be able to financially compete with other offers, Ronaldo’s relationship with the club may be enough to convince him to finish his career there.

Ronaldo’s mother promised Sporting supporters last year that she would make an effort to persuade her son to rejoin the team. But he chose to join United, a team that has struggled this season and didn’t advance to the Champions League.
