• The EFCC has arrested 35 “Yahoo Boys” as part of a massive raid.

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, has detained a total of 35 alleged internet fraudsters in Ibadan, Oyo State.

Wilson Uwujaren, a spokesman for the EFCC, confirmed their arrest in a statement on Monday.

 

He said 17 of them were arrested in Ibadan’s Akobo neighborhood on Thursday as a result of credible intelligence about their alleged fraudulent activities.

 

The remaining eighteen suspects, according to Uwujaren, were caught by officers of the Nigerian Army’s 2 Division in Ibadan and handed over to the Commission for further investigation.

During the arrest, the defendants were found with cell phones, laptops, seven exotic cars, one smart television, and damning documents.

 

The 18 suspects, who were handed over to the Commission by Lieutenant Goni Tijjani Ibrahim, were apprehended in Ihejirika Garden, near the Army Cantonment in Ibadan, after residents complained about their fraudulent operations.

Mobile phones and one smart wristwatch were among the items handed over with the suspects.

 

They will be charged in court as soon as the investigations are completed, according to Uwujaren.
