Two days are designated as a public holiday in Plateau State for PVC registration.
In order to encourage residents to turn out in large numbers to register for the Independent National Electoral Commission’s (INEC) ongoing Permanent Voter’s Card programme, which is scheduled to end on June 30 of that year, the Plateau State Government, according to THE NATION REPORTERS, has declared June 28 of 2022 a public holiday.
The decision of the governor, according to a statement from the secretary to the state government, Prof. Danladi Atu, was made to make sure that Plateau State residents wouldn’t be denied the chance to participate in and cast ballots for the candidates of their choice ahead of next year’s general election.
Governor Simon Bako Lalong has announced Monday, June 27, and Tuesday, June 28, 2022, as public holidays, it continued.
This will allow residents of Plateau State to turn out in large numbers for the ongoing INEC voter registration drive, which will end on June 30 countrywide.
