Chelsea manager, Thomas Tuchel has confirmed that Hakim Ziyech has suffered a “serious” injury.
Ziyech opened the scoring for the Blues, as they went on to defeat Villarreal on penalties in the UEFA Super Cup on Wednesday night.
Shortly after his goal, the Moroccan playmaker was taken off after falling on his shoulder.
When asked about Ziyech’s injury, Tuchel said: “If you take a player out during the first half, it’s serious and unfortunately he was a very decisive player.”
The former Ajax star will definitely miss Chelsea’s opening Premier League fixture on Saturday.
Tuchel’s men welcome Crystal Palace to Stamford Bridge, as the German begins his first full season in charge.
