Kevin Phillips has told Chelsea starlet, Billy Gilmour to leave Norwich City where he is currently on loan and move to Leeds United immediately.

Philips wants the player to cut short his loan spell at Norwich in favour of a January loan move to Leeds.

The youngster played seven times for Chelsea in the Premier League last season, but struggled to break into Thomas Tuchel’s team towards the end of the campaign.

He was sent out on loan to Norwich in the summer as he sought some much-needed top flight game time.

However, the move has not yielded any positive results so far, with the Scotland international only making four appearances in Norwich’s opening 11 Premier League matches.

Norwich are currently rooted to the bottom of the table on just five points and Phillips believes that Gilmour should leave Norwich in favour of a move to a more stable team.

“Gilmour hasn’t got much game time under his belt, and I can’t see why with where Norwich are in the league. There’s no point in him going back to Chelsea because he will hardly play,” he told Football Insider.

“He should go back out on loan to somewhere like Leeds. [Marcelo] Bielsa plays good football, they aren’t rooted to the bottom of the Premier League, and he will probably get more game time.

“Leeds play more of the type of football Gilmour is suited to, so it would be a great move for him.

“We’ve seen Bielsa get the best out of some youngsters and there’s no reason why he couldn’t do that with Gilmour.”

  9. Thanks for the update Climaxtrend Newcastle United and Manchester City legends, Alan Shearer and Micah Richards have given reasons why Manchester United midfielder, Paul Pogba is exactly like Premier League flop, Juan Sebastian Veron.

The Argentine midfielder had joined in a British transfer record of £28.1m back in 2001 after he impressed for Italian giants, Lazio.

However, Veron, now 46, could not make it in Old Trafford where he stayed for just two seasons.

Even when he left United to join Premier League rivals, Chelsea, the story remained the same and he ended playing only seven games across four seasons.

Shearer and Richards both believe there are similarities between Veron and Pogba, who himself has been criticised for his failure to deliver for United on a regular basis.

“I just remember him being a flash in the pan, before he came to Man United, you expected big things,” Richards told the Match of the Day Top 10 podcast.

“He’s like Pogba, Pogba’s stayed longer but when you watch Pogba, you want him to do something brilliant every time and the same with Veron as well, you wanted him to score 40-yard goal or 60-yard pass, it was just a little bit fast for him.

“He wanted to slow down the tempo a little bit. This is what I don’t understand, people always ask me, why did it not always happen?”

Shearer added: “I definitely agree with the Pogba comparison, think everyone looked at Veron and thought ‘wow, what a player,’ £28m which was a lot of money then and everyone was expecting that of him every week. Ability-wise, it was in there.”

Paul Pogba is currently injured and may not be available after the international break when Manchester United will have a date with Watford.

Manchester United are going a difficult time with their most recent results being a comprehensive defeat by Manchester City and Liverpool at Old Trafford.
