New Manchester United interim manager, Ralf Rangnick, may not take charge of the team until mid-December, ESPN reports.

The club has already confirmed the 63-year-old will not be involved when they host Arsenal on Thursday in the Premier League.

Caretaker manager Michael Carrick will be given the responsibility to select the team and tactics for the game.

Due to Rangnick’s lack of coaching experience since leaving RB Leipzig in 2019, he does not automatically qualify for a UK work permit.

As a consequence, he must now face a Football Association-appointed independent panel to secure the necessary visa to work in the Premier League.

Although it is a formality that Rangnick will be given his visa, the timing of the hearing is out of United’s control and could therefore delay his ability to work on the training ground and be involved on matchday.

After Arsenal, United play Crystal Palace on Sunday and Youngs Boys on December 8.

Rangnick could be forced to wait until the trip to Norwich on December 11 before the red tape is cleared for him to sit in the dug-out.
