Russia has assured Sweden and Finland that joining NATO will make no difference.

NATO (North Atlantic Treaty Organization, often known as the North Atlantic Alliance) is a military alliance made up of 30 countries: 28 European countries, the United States, and Canada.

The two countries are nearing the end of their efforts to join NATO, and Russia believes that NATO has been considering their regions in its military plans for eastward expansion for years.

Finland, Sweden, and a few other neutral nations have long engaged in NATO military exercises, according to Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov.

“NATO has taken their regions into consideration while planning its eastward movement,” Lavrov stated on Tuesday, according to CNN.

“It appears to make no difference in this scenario,” he remarked.

The Minister went on to say that his country will watch how NATO uses Finland and Sweden’s territory and “draw its own conclusions.”
